Aromas of black cherries, strawberries, blackberry, black currants and leather. There are undertones of vanilla, cigar and spice from the oak barrels we use to age this wine. The 2008 Tiedemann Dessert wine is full-bodied with long velvety tannins and a silky smooth palate. It has a very nice subtle sweetness. The finish on this dessert wine is long and packed with jammy fruit and vanilla spiciness.

73% Tinta Cao, 17% Touriga and 10% Tempranillo
100% barrel-fermented and aged 14 months in barrels and 6 months in the bottle
This 2008 dessert wine was grown organically in Amador County by one of Sean’s favorite Napa Valley farmers. Unfortunately, he stopped farming this property after this single vintage, so the 75 cases made will be all that is offered. We brought his Touriga, Tinta Cao and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) grapes into the winery and co-fermented them in small tanks. The wines were punched down three times a day and fermented until the desired sugar remained. On the day of fortification we added a one-year aged brandy, which allowed us to arrest the fermentation and raise the alcohol to the desired level. The grapes were kept in contact with the skins for another two weeks in a traditional port manner, and then aged in barrels for 10 years prior to bottling.
